What Frank is pointing out is that, while S is a great scale to model in, it is
a hard scale to get started in, especially at the moment, given the
Chinese-induced SHS drought.

Ideas:
1. SHS did quite a lot of NYC rolling stock -- boxcars and hoppers. Stocking
dealers - Heimburger, Des Plaines, Hoquat, others -- may still have some on the
shelves. Not all can detail their full current stock online, so dropping an
email to inquire can be good.

2. American Models produces very nice products. Their challenge is the number
of variations they try to include -- scale, hirail, DC, AC, sound, no sound.
Multiply all the variations and not all is in stock at all times. They are
responsive to email. so if something is confusing, ask.

3. Watch eBay. There is a lot of S in circulation now as people downsize,
upsize, sell dad's estate. etc. Not everything every day, but over a period of
time, a lot of stuff. If you set up a saved search, watch broad categories.
Many sellers are not the original modelers, and do not always distinguish
between AF, SHS, AM, etc. when they have to decide on listings categories.

4. Let friends know what you are looking for. They may run across it in a
less-known shop or have two duplicates sitting on their white elephant shelf.
