I thought about changing the subject line for a response to something like "the spirit of S Scale." My understanding is that the Lionel engines all have DC motors, meaning that the conversion to DCC is no more complicated than any other engine that doesn't come with DCC already installed. It doesn't bother me that the junk I throw away on this conversion is a different flavor, some AC to DC converter flavored junk.
I don't in any way mean this as a slam on James, but it seems like a foreign thought that S Scale would ever be something that you just buy and everything works and looks exactly like you want it to, no matter what your specifications. The only way to come anywhere near that is to go with the most popular scale. As I've said before, my choice of S Scale was based largely on the fact that I would have to work at it, even to come up with a few excellent models that would more than fill my restricted space. I guess that's not desirable for everyone, but if it isn't, one has to weigh the attractive size of S against the greater availability in HO and O, and I've never seen how S could win that argument. BTW, gotta agree with James's conclusion - go tell Lionel what you want. -Michael Eldridge --- In [email protected], JAMES SLEETH <aztecfan@...> wrote: > > I have 15 DC powered engines and am building a new layout.
