Hi Don --

My only experience was with the Rio Grande cars that I was able to get into, 
and the paint, BOTH in and out, was not really all there.   I would suspect 
that because paint contained lead during those times, the insides were 
probably not painted.   Wood especially, probably would not be painted, 
because the live stick would chew on the boards and rub the paint off 
anyway.   Any paint the inside got was probably the result of slops or 
overspray...

.... Were the boards painted on the inside or just the outside when these
