Botton is still in the Cleveland area. I knew him well. I would say his weakness was being to eager with too little in funds.
Of course thats not the reason of getting shafted by that crude so and so who took over Omnicon keeping my $862. (Heard they were now in Mexico) I talked to Bottons father about 1 1/2 years ago. He is broke (or was). I have a EBT brass bridge. I produced architectural models for many years. In 11 countries and 82 FORTUNE Magazines. Architects are a bit slow in paying. Developers are the worst (they are anyway). I occasionaly had to scrape to pay any help. Real fun You need to be a hedge fund (I call them sludge funds) to succeed. I told John Botton that I would send a credit card deposit when he had a pilot model. If he was financing the model, the credit card deposits should be good enough to proceed. I lost a few hundred with a custom brass builder many years ago and in helping get a brochure produced in our hobby. I think we've finally settled the latter, but I've also learned a lesson or two. Running a micro-business like mine makes you really tough or out of business very quickly! Although most of my 'brass days' are behind me, anybody who can't take a credit card deposit probably won't see a sale to me. Not sure how they fared, but it must have been aggravating. I sure like the RRM 0-6-0. Much better than vaporware.
