 Hi Trevor, That's why I think your layout will do a lot to attract the 
attention of modelers in other scales. Your focus is building a top quality 
layout with no compromises or connection to Flyer roots so folks will see that 
S is a legitimate scale not just a stepchild of a toy train line. Just getting 
people to look at S as a modeling scale equal to the others is a big deal when 
it comes to future growth, a lot of the problem is psychological, people just 
don't believe S is for real so anything that gives them faith is huge.
  For years ED L and Roger Nulton have been setting the stage so I'm glad to 
see others are building on their strong base. 
 I also think layouts like the Shabbona make a big impression as people can see 
that S is great for those who want to emphasize the operations and railroadness 
of a layout using readily available equipment in a creative manner, it's a 
pretty common scheme in HO but most S scalers haven't gotten it down like Bob
