Thorin,

I would program both to short address 43. Then program each decoder to a
separate long (4 digit), such as 143 and 243 or 1043 and 2043. Normally,
program CV29 to use the short address. When you want to program them
separately, change CV29 to use the long address, and you can select the one
you want to program using the long address.

Subject: {S-Scale List} Dual decoders in the same locomotive

Gentlemen and (if we are so lucky) Ladies;

I am going to install a Digitrax DH465 into my 343 steam rebuild. It has
the heft and function outputs I need. Plus it is already on the workbench.
This locomotive will be programmed to 43.

I am looking at the MRC 1908 sound only decoder. The question is
programming.

Do I program both to 43?

Do I program the motor decoder to 43 and the sound decoder to, say, 93 and
then permamently consist the 93 with the 43? Do I reverse this and consist
the motor decoder to the sound decoder?

How does one program a dual decoder locomotive? Am I restricted to
programming-on-the-main? Should I have a way to electrically isolate each
decoder and then use the programming track? If I isolate them, should they
both be 43?

Help!
