Aside from the notched lower sills, or lack of, on the American Models plug doors, and the DesPlaines 50' sliding door box, the side ladders should match the paint...red on top, white in the middle and blue on the bottom. There also was an article in MR a few years back (I don't know the exact issue offhand)on these State of Maine "heater cars" and how to model them by adding details to the sides and the charcoal heater underslung on the frame.
