Merry Christmas Rhett --

Tomalco used to make tie plates and turnout detail (rail braces, anchors,
etc.) and I think they still have them, but if all you are looking for is
tie plates, I can recommend using Evergreen styrene strip. I use the .010
x 1/8” stock. All you have to do is slide it under the rail, spike through
it, then trim it to size. Once painted, it is almost indistinguishable
from more exotic products.

A few photos attached, including one where the white plastic still needs
more touching up...

Happy!

I've been looking for some turnout tie plates like those used by Trevor
Marshall on his Port Rowan layout. I contacted Trevor and the bits he used
are not commercially available.

Doing an internet search, I found a manufacturer who would be willing to
make these parts for a cost between $18-$24 per turnout, depending on
turnout length. It will be three months before these will be available. I'm
working with code 83 rail, but I'm sure larger and smaller rail sizes could
be accommodated.

What I'm wondering: How many of you guys would like to purchase this
product? Please let me know how many sets you would want (no monetary
commitment required). I'm sure if the demand is there that these will get
made...perhaps even on a faster schedule!

Merry Christmas,
Rhett Graves
