I have read over the last couple months most of the discussion on Lionel and
MTH. There are enough opinions here
without mine, and I never had facts to add. However, with an emerging interest
among my young boys in things
trains, there is a distinct possibility of a modern diesel purchase in my/their
very near future. I have offered to them a
range of options, all of which have some connection to the trains we can or
have seen in this area of the country. We
often get down and check out the power from the Bow coal train as the cars are
unloaded in the power station: GMTX
SD-60's leased to P&W, NS SD-70's , PAR SD40-3's rebuilt from SD-45's. NHN
runs a pair of smart looking GP38-2's,
but we haven't been over there to see them yet. In the fall, Alice and the
boys rode the Downeaster with a cabbage
(rebuilt F40-PH) leading the way back to NH from Maine. Hmm, we can do those
in S. Both of the younger boys have
expressed an preference for the "black & white one with the horse."

There will be no sale if scale wheels aren't included.

On to my next Lionel thought. Over on the P48 yahoo list, some images of a new
Lionel O scale ACF Type 21 8000
gallon tank car have just been shared. My first thought was, hey, if we sent
in a huge amount of mail, S scale could
have that car this year! What a great addition to available offerings! Care
to join on encouraging such a product?
