Weekend FUN!
Well, I've been rebuilding a # 6 code 125 LH switch built into the mainline. Yes, I could pull it out and replace it with a new switch, but I would have to tear out a good bit of scenery and I thought not to do that. The rebuilt switch is correct in every sense of the word, matches all the gauge measurements and most times everything all runs very smoothly through it going east, but when going west it at times derails and I can't find the #%%$#& problem. I'm not a "Dick Karnes," but I ain't real bad at it either. Possibly could be the SHS READING SWE 14 locomotive? But I checked the gauge and it is gauge. One thing I did learn through you guys out there, this RS2 has the lower gear in it. Prior to my reading about the different gears placed in the SHS diesels I thought there was something wrong with my SHS diesel and that someday I would take it apart and fix it! 8>) I really don't want to tear all the old Trackwork out, but maybe I should ? Anyway a week at rebuilding the upper inside mainline has been a real experience for me. I'm rather enjoying it, haven't done real track work in years.
