If he continues with his efforts, he will also see that ZIMO decoders have a feature called "coupler waltz" which means that the decoder can be programmed to automatically uncouple Kadee's over a magnet. With the press of a single function button while the loco is stopped, the ZIMO decoder will cause the loco to slowly backup, stop, reverse direction, move forward and then stop again. The speed and amount of time it moves in both directions are set via CVs. If using magnets is what you like, this feature makes uncoupling about as easy as it gets. Even easier than untying knots in the string that holds the train together. Right, boB?
