When I was building my Locomotive Workshop brass engines, I tried to cushion #4
drawbars to reduce the shock when starting a train. I tried to use HO truck
springs, however, they were too thick and would bind on the coupler cover
boxes. I got them to work, after a fashion, but never as well as I would have
liked. I've never gone back and experimented further.
