 Hi, looking at a map in the 2013 issue of MRP it appears the Studebaker plant 
in South Bend was served by the NJI&I or the Pennsy?
  As for kinds of auto cars used in 1955 I recall a photo of them unloading 55 
or maybe 56 chrysler cars from double door boxcars in Brooklyn NY. 
  I also recall some open auto cars that said Evans auto loader on the side, 
they were shorter than the typical auto racks, maybe 50 feet or so and held 
cars on the flatcar deck and one level up above.Probably late 50's or early 
60's. Atheran once made HO models of them....DaveBranum
