Bud, That's what I had started back a few years ago--leaving out the center portion. Problem is I'm not certain exactly what state I had left the rest of the project. I do like the prepainted sides, I do hope they are half-way accurate.

I think these kits were originally designed for On3 perhaps. One caveat, leaving that square piece out and just gluing the two tapered roof sections together yields a proper width S scale roof. This also means reducing the floor, ends, and cast ends sills to an S scale width.
