They don't look too bad if you invoke the 10/20 rule(10 feet away at 20 mph.)  
Yeah, some of the detail is a little clunky but nothing that shouts out when in 
a sea of black, boxcar red and reefer orange.  No worse than converted Flyer 
cars that haven't been extensivly reworked.

Crown did correct the ladder position on later cars.

As I recall, I put AM wheelsets on mine and Kadee mounting was no major effort.
