boB,

There is a picture plus my description of the kit and my comments on
building it in the June 2001 issue of the NASG Dispatch so this is a project
I did over twelve years ago. If you can scrounge up a copy, it goes into
more detail than I can do here. If you can build a resin kit, you can build
the superstructure. The basic drivers and frame was assembled (for Sn3),
but you have to assemble the crosshead, crosshead guides, cylinders, etc.
You can either low temp solder or use CA and epoxy to assemble the pewter
castings.

With experience, some people have assembled these RailMaster kits in about
40 hours, but I would budget closer to 100 hours for your first one. I also
had to do some modifications to the tender there were hidden by a (real)
coal load to accommodate DCC and sound.

Dave:

Any photos of the locomotive? Any construction issues to be wary of? I'm
getting some ideas about a different direction for SHABBONA, funds
permitting, of course. Above all else, at this stage of the game, how much
time and dexterity do I have (need?) to to tackle a new project of this
nature?
