1) Which years did Gilbert put E units in vs the flip switches? 2) The new Lionel Baldwin's - same shell as the Gilbert ones? Swap between the old and new?
3) On the Gilbert ones, did they all have couplers running around on the pin? Mine flops around so much I can't imagin trying to do real switching with it... let along switching without the E unit.
