assalamu alaykum,
For start-up I think the Bismillah is better (file 0010001.mp3 on
versebyversequran). For shutdown, ayah 12/108 isn't too long?
To choose the recitators, two options:
- We could do a poll, but I'd like to quickly release sabily 9.04
so it should last one day or two only
- Ahmed choose a recitator and we take time to do a poll for next
release

I find two good recitations, one by shaikh Hudhaifi
(http://www.versebyversequran.com/data/Hudhaify_32kbps/012108.mp3), and
the other by shaikh Minshawi
(http://www.versebyversequran.com/data/Menshawi_16kbps/012108.mp3).
So which one of them ?
Well between these two recitation I choose the one of shaikh Minshawi, but
I think that you have chosen two "long" reciter (nafas tawiil), I think that
it should be a "speed" one like AlGhamidi:
http://www.versebyversequran.com/data/Ghamadi_40kbps/012108.mp3
In fact I find that is the shorter one (15 seconds), so it is the suitable
one for the startup, what do you think?

Yes it is shorter, yet I still prefer shaikh Hudhaifi's & Minshawi's
recitation as they are calmer.
