Hmm, something strange is going on here. I am surprised boehmgc runs
make check, but it isn't a good sign.

Yep, Mandriva 10.2 seems to have been released in late 2005, so I
would second that :)

Note that the latest Mandriva release both seem to have gccs that
break the build of Python, so you might want to take that into account
when selecting a new distribution. Most people running Sage on Linux
use Ubuntu and Debian and sage.math runs Ubuntu LTS 8.04, so it is
certainly best tested on that setup :)
