Okay, so the mkdir -p is just to ensure that $DOT_SAGE exists then, right?
I'll put a comment in the source there to make that clearer in my
IPython 0.13 updates to #12719.
Also, I changed IPYTHONDIR to ipython-new, instead of ipython-0.12,
since we hope to update to 0.13 soon.
