Another functionality that rarely works is the gap_group arg: 
>
> sage: PermutationGroup(gap_group=gap.SymmetricGroup(4)) 
> Permutation Group with generators [(1,2), (1,2,3,4)] 
> sage: PermutationGroup(gap_group=gap.DihedralGroup(4)) 
> #Boom!
>

If you feel like fixing it in Sage, it looks like the following works:

sage: PermutationGroup(gap_group=gap.DihedralGroup(gap.IsPermGroup,4))
Permutation Group with generators [(3,4), (1,2)]
