Building Sage from source is not possible with only 512MB, so hopefully you have at least 512MB swap. Building Linbox requires a lot of RAM, as it is a nested templated C++ library. The failure in the error message in your post suggests that either you ran out of RAM, or you're using a buggy compiler (or your computer overheated, but I doubt that). You might try upgrading your compiler, since the current compiler on Hardy Heron is GCC 4.2.4, and you are using " version gcc 4.2.3 (Ubuntu 4.2.3-2ubuntu7)". You might also increase available swap space.
