It is not "trouble porting wise", it is that long double functions are not
guaranteed by the C99 standard to have any more precision that the double
version of the same function. cwitty pointed out that also double and
float implementations commonly return the same result, so if you want
guaranteed results use gmp or mpfr - everything else plainly sucks.
