 I tried to simplify the circumstances a bit (smaller number of evaluation
 points, no symbolic expression in the definition of the plot range.
 However,

 sage: f = lambda t: (100/(100+(t-pi/2)^8))*(2-sin(7*t)-cos(30*t)/2)
 sage: p = plot(f, -4, 3,plot_points=3)
 }}}
 is still nasty.
