The plot is adaptive, so even if you specify 3 points it uses many more.
About the caching, is the problem that the cache gets deleted too quickly?
Between two evaluations of the lambda there is nothing that holds a
reference to the symbolic expression. So all coercion caches should be
free to be garbage collected.
