I don't fully understand what you did or tried to do; installing Sage and
the dot2tex spkg on a "virgin" system without dot2tex's prerequisites (and
without `SAGE_CHECK=yes`)?
Also, the `.p1` would not work with Sage 5.10.* (because of matplotlib
1.2.x).
