 As to python 3.x Christopher started to track the status of the various
 package with regards to python 3:
 https://github.com/cschwan/sage-on-gentoo/issues/212

 As to #12985 with Paulo's patch (Paulo used to package sage for Mandriva
 and now does sage for Fedora), if you build ecl with unicode you have to
 rebuild maxima and sage's ecl bits so it is all in sync. Had weird
 doctests issues but haven't checked lately. Look like Julien thinks it is
 all in order now.
