I think that it makes sense, but it doesn't work as expected. That is, if
you clone the Sage library, you should still be able to find documentation
in the usual place. The fact that it needs to be rebuilt is annoying
(although less so, now that the docs don't take as long to rebuild), and a
bug with Sphinx or mercurial or something we do, I'm not sure which. It's
been an issue with cloning for years, and it's never been resolved
satisfactorily.
I don't know if cloning is even going to be part of the new git workflow,
whenever that arrives. In any case, I don't feel like spending any energy
to try to fix this problem.
