 We have

 sage: M.base()
 Univariate Polynomial Ring in t over Rational Field
 sage: M.base_ring()
 Univariate Polynomial Ring in t over Rational Field
 }}}
 So, for consistency, I think we want that the base ring is the path
 algebra.

 But, please fix this in #15801 and not here, as this ticket is closed
 already.
