 I do exactly what you did. The only difference is that I  only do ONE
 memory allocation while you allocate n vectors (all your `adj[i]`). Now,
 you should write a check that all vectors have been correctly allocated,
 and if not deallocate them all, and this is what I wanted to avoid by
 allocating just one big vector of size n*n and making adj point toward
 pieces of it.
