 I don't know the `NumberFieldElement` implementation well enough to have
 an opinion on whether the code should be shared. I was only commenting on
 this ticket trying out different `to_poly_solve` options and checking
 exact answers from solve. Also, you should use `to_poly_solve='force'`
 since you definitely want to use the algebraic system solver from maxima.
 With my patch from #16651 this should always either return an exact
 __solution__ or a floating-point approximate solution.
