I was running it under valgrind---and as a result, I did not see a crash!
However, the other problem (a value error when a sequence is supposed to
return the index of one of its elements) still persists under valgrind.
Concerning the crash: What can one do to further debug if a crash can not
be reproduced with valgrind?
