Yeah, I'm also not a big fan of those repetitions, but I also tried
different approaches and always ended up with something that was less
clear.
I had another look at the code, and right now there is nothing I want to
add, so I guess it's in `needs_review`. If I missed something I'm sure you
or someone else will (politely) point me to it. ;-)
