It shouldn't. You really should change your release management procedures
to fix this.
Why not add the subsubsubrelease number to the tarball name
(`giac-1.1.2-8.tar.gz`)? Or, you could drop version numbers altogether and
use dates (`giac-20141009.tar.gz`) like some other projects do.
But absolutely: '''never''' change a released tarball, no matter how
bad/broken it is.
