I can't even get to the point of running doctests: if I run `make`, then
docbuilding fails with

[modmisc ] building [inventory]: targets for 16 source files that are out
of date
[modmisc ] updating environment: 16 added, 0 changed, 0 removed
[modmisc ] reading sources... [ 6%] index
[modmisc ] reading sources... [ 12%] sage/modular/buzzard
Error building the documentation.
Note: incremental documentation builds sometimes cause spurious
error messages. To be certain that these are real errors, run
"make doc-clean" first and try again.
