 I don't get it: if what you say were true, it would mean that the action
 of that regular subgroup upon the edges incident to a fixed vertex would
 yield a disconnected 6-regular graph.

 On the other hand, this 6-regular disconnected graph is a subgraph of the
 connected 6-regular graph you started from, so ... no?
