I should add that I am surprised that your patch was enough for you, since
it wasn't for me and our settings should be comparable. Are you sure that
you did not do `autoreconf` at some point manually, that was accidentally
not included in the patch? To test that your patch was enough for you,
could you start from a clean `develop`, then merge `u/embray/brial-cygwin-
patch` and see if it builds without any additional tweaking?
