 Hi Harald,

 Thank you for testing this.  The easiest way to deal with this is to
 simply leave the current behaviour unchanged by not overwriting ``hash``
 or any of the comparison methods.  This is a bit of a shame since the
 C-based test for equality should be much faster than the inherited method,
 but I think it is the sensible decision at this point.  I will update the
 patches accordingly later.
