personally I'm not going to look at updating this. I just hope whoever
updates it does check it on Solaris. The code you showed is clearly dumb,
though fortunately will not bother Solaris or any real Unix system.
Unfortunately, having an f***ing clue what you are doing when it comes to
writing software is not a perquisite to contributing to Sage's source
code, or to reviewing the changes made by others with a similar lack of
skill.
Michael Abshoff should also be deleted as the package maintainer. Perhaps
even William too, as he does not appear to be maintaining it.
