An attempt at a new package is here:

This installs fine on a mac (10.5), 64-bit linux, and seems OK on t2
(Solaris). My t2 build isn't completely working so I did not actually
check it on the notebook on that system.
I removed the dist directory, and tried to improve the SPKG.txt somewhat
as well.
