Yes, a bit!
But seriously, I do not think it is appropriate to try to force your style
of coding on someone else. I try to write code in a way that will work
with virtually any Bourne shell - anyone can take code I write and it will
run with almost any shell. As we see here, your stylistic changes resulted
in something that would not work with the bash on {{{sage.math}}}, as that
was too old.
Anyway, thank you for the work you have done on the ticket.
