Comment(by gutow):

Essentially anything is possible if well defined. It would be very easy
to add a button that hides the controls or even in the notebook code allow
for a parameter that launches Jmol without the controls and there is
nothing that prevents making a table of Jmols. The problem is we need a
good definition of what is desired. Should the 3-D plots in the table be
static or live? What about the size of the plots? If they are live you
can rapidly run up against browser memory constraints if the plots are too
big. I think this is doable, but would require some significant reworking
of plot3d and the notebook code. This is not my expertise. Almost
everything I have done for this relates to the javascript code that
 supports Jmol in the notebook.

If we can get a specific list of desired behaviors, this might be a good
summer project for a student. I could certainly try to provide input on
the javascript and Jmol control issues.

currently, I don't think we have a way of arranging several Jmols (or
indeed any 3D graphics) in an array of some sort. See
 [http://ask.sagemath.org/question/335/multiple-3d-plots-in-one-panel-
 graphics_array-and this ask.sagemath.org question].

ask particularly because the new functionality seems to disallow the
possibility of asking for "just" the graphic any more, which in retrospect
perhaps is not so good - at least a keyword for `viewer='old_jmol'` or
 something could be useful.
