I believe that we ship libpng, so it's weird that it didn't find it.
I know in matplotlib, though, on OSX, we look for libpng12. It seems that
a long time ago, we kept picking up the wrong libpng on OSX, so now we
look for libpng12. I believe the problem has been fixed since then, but
the "fix" for matplotlib is still in the spkg.
