You mean, it would definitely fix the Gentoo problem?

impossible start sage-4.7.1 on Gentoo." I thought that it ''is'' clear
enough.

Yep. Actually I have tested (by inserting print statements in the
functions that read the sources for auto-inspection) that no file is read
at startup, with the patch.
