 our servers don't deserve being trashed by 120 undergrads, running never
 ending loops, executing seemingly innocent Sage commands. :)

 I've bitten the bullet and hopefully fixed all the shortcomings we
 discussed, added throwing exceptions, etc. Please review soon. :-)
