Actually, you could try to avoid {{{bnf.bnfisprincipal(self.pari_hnf(),
1)}}} whenever {{{gens_needed=True}}}. That may even save time, as it
saves a call to bnfisprincipal in some cases. I'm afraid it would mean
throwing a lot of stuff around in {{{__cache_...}}} though.
