 Can you track this further down?

 I tried `tgetent(NULL, NULL)` on `sage.math` (with GCC 4.2.4), which
 doesn't segfault but properly returns 1.  Could you try setting `TERM` to
 something else (rather than unsetting it) in `sage-sage`, as suggested at
 #12263?
