As I happened to be cc'ed on this ticket, I've uplaoded a package with the
requested easy changes at http://perso.telecom-
paristech.fr/~flori/sage/mpfi-1.5.0.spkg
At least it install on a (vanilla? not sure... but nothing to exotic) sage
4.7.2 and runs the test suite (and succeed) when asked so on my machine.
