I came up with a few things: > 1) SDS - Which SDS are we going to use? We've been using > rails.dev.concord.org/sds <http://rails.dev.concord.org/sds> for our > junit testing purposes. Should we point to the production? And which > version 1.0 or 1.1 are going to use? We talked about before. It is best to have the "production" portal use the production sds. I'm calling the portal "production" because it is going to be used in schools.
In order to support quick developement the dev sds (rails.dev.concord.org/sds) can be erased at any point. No real data should be stored in it. The TELS Portal uses the 1.1 sds apis to talk to the development sds. WISE-dev uses the 1.0 apis to talk to the production sds. We want to upgrade the production sds to use the 1.1 apis. This requires WISE-dev to work with the 1.1 apis. Once this upgrade is complete then the production TELS Portal can use the production sds. So the bottom line is: WISE-dev needs to be upgraded to work with the 1.1 sds apis. Then we upgrade saildataservice.concord.org Then the production TELS Portal should use saildataserver.concord.org Along these lines. The portal developers should be careful running tests against the production sds. Many people may be use it, so if you slow down the sds by hammering it with a bunch of automated tests, that is not good for the children. It makes sense to run the automated tests each time the production sds code is modified, and that should be done during off peak hours.
