Dear All

The St Bridgets Institute has done a wonderful job in Aldona for the
past many years in educating and preparing local girls (some of them
drop outsfrom school) making them independent and ready for the
future . The Institute has since shifted to Porvorim to have a better
reach.

Now in the same facility at Aldona they have started a I year Course
in Home Nursing. Savita a child of the family ( Perpet Fernandes) for
whom a new home was built with your kind and generous help is now
undertaking this course .

I am attaching an request from Satira. Please see if anyone can help
in any way. If you desire to help please contact Satira directly at 91

Let me introduce myself as Satira Soares the Principal of St.Bridget's
Institute of Home Science, Aldona under Caritas Goa and share with
you our vision for the sick and aged members of our community.
The aim of St.Bridget's Institute is to impart education to help women
to reach their full potential, to discover their identity, talents and
equip them with skills to meet the challenges of the time and to be
self-employed and self supporting.

With the growing number of elderly and infirmed uncared for in the
homes Caritas Goa felt the need to reach out to these neglected
groups, while recognizing the need for locally trained individuals
MALE AND FEMALE CANDIDATES who will be in a better position to render
effective care to the individual in the home ALONG WITH THE FAMILY.

The programme is designed to prepare the individual with knowledge and
skills to care for the aged and sick in their own environment in
keeping with the principles of health, prevention of diseases while
becoming familiar with and adjusting to the home conditions working
along with the sick or aged person and family. This course aims to
address the growing needs of the family and community in caring for
the sick and aged in the home, within the family and community
resources.
This course is for students who
have completed their 8th standard as a minimum qualification for both
male and female. The programme is of 1 YEAR duration affiliated to
HRD, Government of Goa and will help the student acquire comprehensive
knowledge and skills to care for the aged and sick in their own
environment.
Fee structure: Rs. 4000/- for the academic session
                 Rs.25/- for the Prospectus
Rs.25/- for the practical record book

Most of our students are from low socio economic group and need
financial assistance and request you to help in any way you can.
Also to meet the educational requirement we would need to equip our
classrooms with the following aids and equipments:

CPR simulator
Demonstration dummy/mannequin designed to perform nursing procedures
Anatomy man with detachable viscera
Charts/slides/CD's -- anatomy, hygiene, microbiology
Nursing books- Community health Nursing, Microbiology for Nurses,

Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanking you.

Yours sincerely,
